This portrait reveals a story that extends beyond its surface. A story about resilience, courage and hope, illuminating the human experience of having to leave your home in search of a better future. Letting go may be hard, but the beauty of freedom is worth it.

The intricate details of this beautiful traditional Eritrean dress, called a Zuria, are mesmerizing. This painting reminds you to stay true to yourself, being free and having the resilience and determination to preserve your identity. Whether displayed in a home or office it can serve as a powerful centerpiece for any space, igniting conversations and inspiring empathy and understanding.

Materials

Painting surfaces:

  • ACM Panel (Aluminum Composite Material): An ACM panel consists of two thin aluminum sheets bonded to a non-aluminum core, usually made of polyethylene or another material. ACM panels are sturdy and durable, offering a robust surface for oil painting that resists warping, cracking, and moisture damage, ensuring the artwork's longevity. Despite their durability, ACM panels are lightweight, making them easy to handle, transport, and mount for display or framing.
  • Masonite: A type of hardboard that is commonly used as a painting support. It is made from compressed wood fibers, creating a dense and sturdy panel that provides a smooth and stable surface for painting.

Paints:

All paintings are made with archival quality oil paints and mediums, which will ensure the artwork will last a lifetime.

Care for your artwork

Your painting has been varnished which will help protect it from sunlight fading and dust particles bonding to the surface. Take a clean, soft (make-up or paint) brush and gently sweep the dust away. I advise against hanging or storing your painting in damp conditions and direct sunlight.

I aim to pack and post original artworks within a week of sale, but sometimes it could be up to three weeks depending on if the painting is dry and varnished yet or not. Don't hesitate to ask for an approximate time scale and I will happily provide you with that information.
